I have some basic guidelines to follow when preparing a head for shipping to my shop. Keep in mind, that I am not a shipping store and I have limited access to boxes. I have been in this business long enough to see too many heads ruined by shipping carriers. You must understand that the shipping carriers DO NOT CARE. Expect your head to be dropped, thrown, caught in a machine, etc. Take the extra time to find a good sturdy box (double wall if possible). Package the head tightly with heavy paper, cardboard scraps, or dense foam around all surfaces of the head to protect it thoughout its journey to me. Popcorn will not cut it!Keep in mind, the head will return to you in the box that was supplied from you. If I feel the box is not safe enough to return your head I will have to locate a new box and you will be charged a small fee.
To avoid problems with the shipping companies, please clean your head of as much oil that you can. I see it time and time again where heads are stopped midway though shipment for inspection and are then sent back to you because of hazardous contamination. Shipping companies do not like oily car parts or the smell of fuel as they feel it is a fire hazard. Clean your parts!
If we are ordering parts, please include a non-refundable 25% deposit to cover some of my expenses. If parts will not be ordered, a 25% deposit would help but is not required.
